Carrolline Rhodes is the author of seven published histories which include the centenary histories of Nambucca Valley Council, the Nambucca River Cooperative, and Telling the Tale of Talarm, which celebrated the centenary of Talarm Hall.
"It is an honour to be asked to create an account of the fire that ravaged our shire in 2019," Carrolline said.
"I look forward to giving a voice to the people who were devastated, to the firefighters, to the volunteers who gave so much, to the animals and to the landscape."
Carrolline knows the community well and has already met with several locals impacted by the fire as well as organisations involved in the recovery.
She will be visiting South Arm Hall on Wednesday, September 23, between 10am and noon as well as Taylor's Arm Hall on Saturday, September 26, from noon to 2pm if residents would like to meet Carrolline in person.
Alternatively, anyone wishing to share their story can make contact via email on: carrollinerhodes@gmail.com
"It's important that as a community we have a record of this disaster, the most devastating our valley has ever experienced," mayor Rhonda Hoban said.
"I hope that through this process residents will have the opportunity to share their stories, perhaps heal a little, and feel proud of how we have survived.
"Carrolline Rhodes is an experienced writer with a depth of community understanding and the right person to weave together this account for our community."
