At this stage, any business or service that was forced to close or substantially reduce operations during the height of the coronavirus public health orders will receive a 6-month rebate on water and sewerage access charges.
Mayor of Nambucca Valley Council, Councillor Rhonda Hoban, OAM said the decision was resolved at the Council Ordinary Meeting on May 28.
"These are unprecedented and challenging times for many of our businesses, especially for those who were forced to close due to the public health orders," she said.
"It is hoped that the rebate of the water and sewer access fee for six months will in some small way assist those businesses to get through this challenging time."
Letters have been sent to property owners advising them of the rebate to their rate account and if the property owner is not the business owner, to pass the rebate on to help their tenants.
"Incomes and trade have been severely affected because of COVID19, and we really want to see businesses in our region stay open if possible," Cr Rhonda said.
