The rising 12-year-old recorded his best performance at nationals - finishing eighth overall in the individual and snaring two gold medals in team events as part of an all-dominant NSW squad.
Daniel qualified for the Australian showdown after finishing fourth in the 12-13 years at the NSW All Schools Cross Country Championships.
The Year 6 Nambucca Heads Public School student was part of a State 'bluewash' at the nationals.
In the individual 3km race, NSW athletes filled six of the first nine runners across the line to easily take the gold. Daniel was among that elite club and was stoked with the result.
"It was a specially designed course - and it's my favourite course so far," Daniel told the Guardian.
"It was flat, but some of it was through forest so I just felt like I was going so fast."
After a rest day spent visiting a science museum, Daniel and Co lined up for the relay race - a 5x1500m power burst, as NSW picked up a second gold.
"I was pretty sore for the relay but at the same time I was excited," Daniel said.
But there's no time for reflection - just training and focus.
After being named North Coast Senior Champion at Lismore where he won the 800 and 1500m races, and finished fourth in discus, Daniel has his head down and legs whirring for the State Athletics carnival in early November.
