Now the North Coast also has a full understanding.
At the North Coast PSSA Athletics Championships in Lismore, the 11-year-old rocket from the Red School at Nambucca Heads broke a 19-year-old North Coast record in the 11 years boys 800m event to win in 2min 24.59 seconds.
Daniel had the long standing mark in his sights in the lead up to the regional competition having previously run 2min 25 sec at the earlier qualifying races (District and Mid North Coast).

In July at his Nambucca Heads Public School athletics carnival, he smashed the existing school record – held for 23 years – by 24 seconds to win in 2min 30 seconds.
Daniel's training had previously been focussing on the longer distance of 3km over the winter cross country series and incorporating weekly 5km parkrun events into his schedule.
Just recently at Urunga Parkrun, he broke the 18 minute barrier to finish the 5km in 17 min 54 seconds, an amazing feat for such a young athlete.
Daniel will now compete at the NSW PSSA athletics championships at Sydney Olympic Park on October 31-November 1 where he will line up for the 800m and the discus events.
Locally, the youngster has long been tearing up – at everything from the Macksville Gift fun run through to the Australia Day races.
