NRMA was contacted at the time.
The fire crew followed Hazmat precautions, and a boom was put in place in the creek to stop leakage into the Nambucca River.
A collision between a ute and a sedan in Nambucca Heads has left the former wedged in the drain beside the Davis Seafoods shop on Riverside Drive.
Thankfully noone was reported to be injured in the crash.
From the outside of the ute it is clear to see that the airbag was deployed after the impact.
Nambucca police came across the male driver with his ute at around 11pm last night. By that time the female driver and her sedan were no longer at the scene.
She reported the incident to Macksville police this morning.
With two separate reports, the collision is still under investigation by police.
Police said the vehicle was not in a situation likely to cause danger to anyone else, so the responsibility for removing the vehicle from the drain fell to the male owner.
There is no time limit for him to do this, and in order to contend with insurance companies, it might not be done for a few days.
Passersby have been rubbernecking all day; walkers along Riverside Drive have been stopping and scratching their heads, while drivers have been slowing down to snap a photo of the unusual sight.
