Police said they were watching a Holden Commodore on High St at around 11pm on Sunday when the vehicle drove towards them before fleeing the scene; no pursuit was initiated at the time.
Police located the car at midday yesterday allegedly being driven on North Arm Road, Bowraville, by a man with two passengers.
Police say they gave chase before the driver left the vehicle and fled the scene on foot; he was found a short time later in nearby bushland.
Police also arrested the two passengers but they were later released.
The driver was taken to Macksville Police Station and charged with several traffic offences including fail to stop police pursuit (Skye's Law).
He was refused bail to appear at Kempsey Local Court today.
