The 7th Asia Pacific Eldercare Innovation Awards were announced on May 15 and RFBI, a leading not-for-profit aged care provider, was delighted to have been nominated as a finalist in the "Innovation of the Year - Food and Nutrition" category.
Their Dining with Dignity program has seen the introduction of two new dining aids to improve the dining experience for all residents. New crockery offers "invisible" assistance with lipped plates and no tip mugs so that all residents can use the same crockery, creating a much more social and enjoyable dining experience.
New fashionable clothing protectors have also been incorporated and replaced outdated bib style coverings. Designed to look like a scarf or lapel cover, these clothing protectors can be used by both men and women and are useful in keeping clothes pristine.
The Dining with Dignity Program is just one of the many exciting innovations introduced across RFBI Villages. At the forefront of these initiatives is RFBI's Chief of Strategy & Innovation, Alyson Pearce, who could not be happier with the results so far.
"Since the launch of the Program in March last year, we have received a total of 65 ideas and have fulfilled 14 of them. There are plenty more organisational innovation projects underway, and I cannot wait to introduce them across our Villages and share results with the industry," she said.
"While we are disappointed we missed out on the award this year, we are very proud to have been nominated as a finalist and will be back again next year."
