The girls dazzled with displays on the balance beam, the vault and the floor to earn their spots, and for one of them, this is the second time she will showcase her talent at the state level.
"I competed last year as well; I hope to make my mark on the competition this year," Marli said.
Kellie is competing for the first time, and the Year 10 student is keen to test herself against some of the best gymnasts in the state.
"I'm excited to be going to the state championship, and I'm looking forward to testing myself," Kellie said.
Luckily, both girls are different ages, and rated different grades, so there is no chance of them competing against each other. Marli is the younger at 14 and ranked a level 6, while Kellie is 15, and a level 4.
Both girls travel to Coffs Harbour and train several times a week and hope to take their passion as far as they can.State will see them perform as a team, and as individuals, with separate winners in both divisions.
