Paul O’Neill reports – on Thursday the social set took to a beautifully prepared ‘big’ green with their customary gusto in search of a shot at a jackpot in the vicinity of $300. It would be Sharyn Hay, Pat Clough and Dean Roe drawing the winning card but unfortunately missing out on the cash with Ken McKelvie and Tristram Edwards snagging runners-up honours. Same time this arvo for another edition.
Saturday saw the second semi-final in the Mixed Fours with Lyn McKay, Gav Gallop, Tim Gardner and Geoff McKay taking on Ken McKelvie, June Summers, Greg Kirkham and Paul O’Neill. The latter took the lead at end four and never looked back after that, winning 21-16, due largely to the magnificent efforts of Mac and June.
On a gloomy Sunday, the fight for the last spot in the Mixed Triples final brought Tracey Armes, Jim Armes and Paul O’Neill up against Sharyn Hay, Greg Doolan and Greg Kirkham. Down 13-10 after 13 ends, the former got some luck and fought back to lead by five, two ends later, eventually winning 23-17 in a great game of bowls. Go Bowra!
