But all is well.
The smoke you are experiencing is likely caused by planned burnoffs around Grassy Head.
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service has been conducting routine hazard reduction burns in 50 hectares of bushland adjacent to Scotts Head since yesterday.
The status of the burns is ‘Under Control’ according to the NSW RFS ‘Fires near me’ app.
Tips for smoky days
People with asthma and other lung conditions are encouraged not to engage in vigorous exercise and, if possible, stay in air-conditioned premises where filtration systems can help to reduce smoke particles in the air.
Symptoms can occur for several days after smoke is inhaled, so people with the chronic respiratory conditions need to be vigilant with their treatment programs.
Healthy adults may also feel the effects of fine particles that can irritate the lungs, so it’s wise to reschedule or cut back on prolonged or strenuous outdoor activities when smoke levels are high. Healthy adults generally find that symptoms will clear after the smoke disappears.
