She’s our Young Citizen of the Year, and for good reason – at 18 years of age, Molly Langley has committed herself to a life of humanitarian work and has already raised funds for two separate missions to Fiji to improve educational and health standards in our neighbouring nation.

And now she’s got another feather in her already brimming cap.
Molly has been successful in gaining a scholarship to the UN-affiliated 2019 Women Deliver conference in Vancouver.
The conference is the largest gathering on girls’ and women’s health, rights, and wellbeing and will bring over 6,000 world leaders, influencers, government officials, civil society representatives, private sector leaders, young people, advocates, academics, activists, and journalists from more than 150 countries to Canada in June next year.
Among the special guests at next year’s conference will be ex-PM Julia Gillard, and Canadian PM Justin Trudeau.
Molly was one of only three young Australians who secured herself a scholarship to this prestigious event.
“I’m over-the-moon excited,” she said.
“I’m looking forward to there being so many like-minded people all in one place working towards the same thing.”
Molly was encouraged to apply for the opportunity by the CEO of Women Deliver, Katja Iverson, who she met while on her 2017 Fiji mission.
Katja even wrote Molly a reference after being bowled over by the Nambucca girl’s passion and drive to enact social change.
But Molly is careful not to let the success distract her from an already burgeoning 2018; at the forefront of her mind is completing her HSC, securing a place at university studying international social work, and fundraising for her third Fiji mission coming up in November.
She also has her sights set on a role as a motivational speaker in the hopes of inspiring Australian students “not to take their education for granted”.
And don’t be mistaken in thinking Molly has tickets on herself either – she openly attributes her achievements to the mentorship, and dedication of others.
“I would like to thank Veena Tilly from Rotary Nambucca Heads for guiding my passion to help others ,” she said.
“I am currently raising funds for this project [to build a new educational facility] which she has been supporting for the past three years.
“This facility will help Fijian children get a better education that will lead to higher paying jobs and allow them to escape the poverty that is sadly very widespread.”
