Sister duo Lesley Ueckermann and Carol McGuire have made the pilgrimage back to the Nambucca to open Lucy Fru Fru, Princess St’s new homewares and fashion boutique.
On Friday evening, the who’s who were treated to an opening with all the frills; champagne and canapes a plenty, prepared by Carol, an exquisite culinary talent.
“Don’t go in there!”, I was told by a sheepish local laden with brown paper bags, “It’s too dangerous.”
And she’s not wrong. Lesley has used her accomplished design aesthetics to display the instore merchandise in a way that makes one feel like a kid in a candy store.
And the best part is it’s ‘champagne style on a beer budget’ so it won’t break the piggy bank.
“We’ve had so many tourists (and many locals too) come in here today, it’s been really good,” Lesley said.
This is certainly a good omen for the post-bypass chapter of Macksville.
With the mural on Wallace Lane attracting renewed attention, and the plans for the River St facade upgrade moving along nicely, there is every likelihood that Macksville could soon be booming with more entrepreneurs keen to try their luck on a piece of retail real estate.
