Mherv is a custom built caravan with a dedicated Registered Nurse traveling New South Wales offering free health screenings to regional and rural men who are notorious for being completely in the dark about the state of their health.
When mherv comes to your town, men can just show up at the van and spend five to ten minutes with registered nurse, Rob Woolley, for a quick and painless assessment.
Either the tests show no reason for concern or at the other end of the scale it may be recommended that immediate medical attention be sought for treatment that would bring the condition under control.
It is not being dramatic to say that this is ten minutes that could save your life.
It is a fact that most Australian men never go to their doctor for a check-up. Many men are walking around with potentially serious health conditions they do not even know they have until it is too late.
Conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol and high blood sugar, which have little or no apparent symptoms, can build up and lead to sudden unexpected death or long term incapacity. Wouldn't it be wonderful if you get checked for those conditions without having to make an appointment to see a doctor?
Well, thanks to this unique Rotary project, now you can.
Rob Woolley will prick your finger and within minutes you will know your blood sugar and cholesterol levels and while his machine is working this out he will take your blood pressure and even spin you a yarn or two.
Rob is well known for cutting away the medical jargon and speaking to you in language you will understand.
He guarantees that you will walk away knowing more about health than you did before and you will enjoy your visit.
You can take your results away with you and present them to your doctor if you wish. Rob will recommend what your next step should be before you part ways.
While the van is labeled 'men's health' ladies are encouraged and Rob also welcomes couples.
There is nothing to lose by coming to the van and speaking with Rob. Well over 7000 people have been tested by him since this great Rotary project was launched.
Rob Woolley and mherv will be in Kempsey March 13-14 and Nambucca March 17-18 in the Nambucca Plaza carpark.
Although Rob's operating times are 10am to 4pm he can be there a little later in the day if you are able to get a message to him as he understands that some folk may be held up by working hours.
Get down and see Rob and mherv, you will be glad you did.
