Les Reedman found some magic on the 7th hole during last Thursday's Dolphin Day with an "Ace".
While a few of the fairways are showing some signs of stress, the greens are fabulous, fast and true - a putters' delight!
Tuesday was a Medley Single Stableford with visitors from as far away as Mudgee and Gungahlin.
Colin Habgood (9) from Kempsey scored 39 points to win Division 1 (scratch to 21) from Peter Miller (12) with 38 points.
Leanne Welsh (25) scored 39 points to win Division 2 (22 to 45) from Lionel Goodacre (24) from Bowraville with 37 points.
Other good scores came from Robert Reid 37, Bradley Dyet (Kempsey), Kay McGoldrick and Peter Brien - all with 36 points.
The Ball comp went down to 33 points on countback.
Wednesday was Ladies Pink Day: a two-ball Ambrose with 54 players enjoying golf while raising funds for breast cancer.
The winners were Kerrie Eichorn and Denise Paluch on 64 nett, with runners up Wendy Avery and Sue Brooks on 65.5. And in third place were Linne Street and Glenys Thompson on 66.
Ball run went to 73.25 nett.
With a raffle, guessing competition, sale of pink cupcakes and donations, $800 was raised.
Di Hopkins' riot of pink hair entranced a visitor from Japan enjoying our course - he happily donated some Aussie dollars!
Thursday was the monthly Open "Dolphin Day" Medley Single Stableford sponsored by Nambucca RSL Club with 104 players taking to the course.
Best score of the day and winner of this month's Dolphin Day shirt was Bernard Dugdale with 41 points.
In Division 1 (scratch to 16), Greg McCoy (3) scored 39 points to win from Tuesday's runner up Peter Miller (11 - lost a shot!) with 37 points.
Division 2 (17 to 22) was won by Houston (Ray) Baker (22) with 36 points on countback from Warren Fuller (17).
Division 3 (23 to 45) was won by Paul Dyer (35) with 38 points from Gary Laing (25) with 37 points.
Other good scores came in from Martin Jones 37, Greg Smith, Roy Louis, Geoff Rees, Peter Moxon, Graham Cooper, Barrie Nicholson and Mark Blake all on 36 points.
The Ball comp went down to 33 points on countback.
Play of the day came from Les Reedman with his Hole in One on the 175m Par 3 7th hole - apparently this makes his HIO tally 7, with many players asking just how he does it?
Saturday was a Medley Single Stableford with a strong field of 128 players - the Annual Presentation of Major Trophies for the year followed.
Visiting from Cairns, Sam Bush (7) scored 40 points to win Division 1 (scratch to 16) from Aaron Loughland (11) with 38 points.
Denise Paluch (19) had 40 points to win Division 2 (17 to 22) and just edge out Kel McGoldrick (22) with 39 points.
In Division 3 (23 to 45), Lyall Gregory (27) scored 38 points to win from Geoffrey Poole (26) with 35 points.
Other good scores came in from Peter Bush 38, David Mattacott, Peter Farrell and Grahan Weary, all with 37.
The Ball comp went down to 32 points on countback.
Presentation of major Trophies for the year was hosted by retiring Captain Andy Bagust and Vice President Kel McGoldrick, and it was pleasing to see the majority of our major event winners in attendance.
Club Champion is Stephen Carr, B Grade Champion is Philip Mander and C Grade champion is Dennis Ashton.
Col "Wormo" Wormleaton and Neil "Duffo" Duffus are playing 'The Longest Day' 72 hole challenge on Monday, December 14, raising funds to support the Cancer Council.
