We bid farewell to our popular Island Restaurant chef Matt Peck and wife Ashleigh who have been running the facility for the past eight years. Matt has decided to hang up his knives to pursue a new career which will allow him to spend more time with his young family.
After Sunday golf, a presentation to Matt and Ashleigh was well attended and received with much general applause. President Geoff Harris remarked on the great service and support they have provided to the Golf Club over the years and wished them well in their future.
A farewell gift of a 12-year-old Glenfiddich for Matt and a bunch of flowers for Ashleigh went down well. A cake was cut and distributed by Matt's kids to all assembled. A good, but somewhat sad day.
Craig Mattic, previously at the Star Hotel Macksville, has been appointed as new head chef of the Island Restaurant.
This week's golf will include the Men's Monthly Medal on Saturday - also the Medal of Medals play-off.
There will also be a 9 hole Chook Run on Friday.
See you on the Island!
