The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked by Ambulance Service NSW at 8.40am today after receiving reports of a serious motor vehicle accident.
The injured man was discovered by a nearby resident who raised the alarm and contacted emergency services at around 8am.
A Fire and Rescue NSW appliance from Bowraville station arrived to find a car had rolled down an embankment, pinning a person against a tree.
NSW Ambulance were able to treat the patient on scene while firefighters worked to extricate him.
In an intricate operation which required the vehicle to be secured and stabilised, crews worked for almost an hour to safely free the man.
Crews rendered the scene safe and removed all hazards. NSW Police and the Rural Fire Service were also in attendance.
The NSW Ambulance Paramedics and the Helicopter Critical Care Medical Team stabilised the man who had been trapped since 7pm on Monday after his car left the road and rolled onto him, pinning him.
The man was treated for serious injuries to his leg and airlifted to the Port Macquarie Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
