It originated in the Pacific Northwest of the USA in 1965 and over the following years grew steadily in popularity until about 10 years ago when it exploded across the world.
The fun and exciting paddle sport is perfectly suited to all ages from 9 to 90 years of age. It is social and affordable with many physical and mental health benefits.
Pickleball is played on a badminton-size court, with a low net, an oversized table tennis paddle and a plastic ball with holes known as a wiffle ball.
It's easy to learn and hard to master, and is played either outdoor or indoor, and as a doubles or singles game.
By 2017, enough enthusiasts brought the sport throughout Australia so that now Pickleball is played in every state with numbers of venues and players increasing weekly.
On Saturday from 9 to 11.30am, you can try out Pickleball at the Scotts Head tennis courts.
Or on Sunday from 10.30 to 1.30pm at the Macksville tennis courts.
And there is an evening session at Nambucca High School on Monday from 5.30pm tp 7.30pm.
All are invited to have some Pickleball fun in good company.
