In Nambucca Heads families from near and far were out in force, enjoying the watery pleasures of paddle boards, boogie boards and snorkelling as well as the shade that the V-Wall offers.
There were plenty of fish and chips and picnics spread out under the casuarinas with visitors from Newcastle and Sydney as well as some from closer to home ... Bowraville.
A bit further north at Urunga, the new tidal pool was getting a good workout with kids showing off their skills as they leapt from the pontoon.
Sandcastles were built, canoes were paddled with parents and grandparents kicking back and enjoying the show, responding to cries of 'Look at me!' or helping find water bottles or food when the need arose.
The crowd was a comfortable COVID-safe size with quite a few visitors down from Coffs, for a change of pace and space.
