It was a sunny and windy day on Saturday as the Lions defeated the Northern Beaches Blues - 9.10 (64) - 4.7 (31) - at E.J Biffin Playing Fields for the last game of the season before finals.

Sitting on top of table, undefeated, meant the Lions were taking home the minor premiership regardless of the day's outcome. But with finals just around the corner, the boys wanted to make a statement to the rest of the competition that they were here to win and keep that momentum moving forward.
Best on ground for the Lions was Jake Hare, who filled in as Captain for the game. He took on the role effortlessly and absolutely dominated in the centre, controlling the game from start to finish in a superb performance.
Jacob Newbury played his toughest game of the season, showing no fear when attacking the ball, and helped give the Lions that extra grunt they needed to put the Blues to the sword.
Special mentions to the Linares brothers, Eric (Ecca) and Daniel (Frencho), two of the oldest Lions on the field and possibly playing their last competitive game together. They didn't look out of place once during the game, with Daniel reading each play like a master and Ecca bagging four of the Lions' goals.
The year so far that's been 2020, had originally threatened to derail the Lions' attempt at becoming a club at senior level again.
But with the perseverance and patience of each player and everyone involved, it has seen them defy expectations and become a team that the Nambucca Valley should be proud of.
So here we are here, on the eve of Semi-Finals. A delayed start to the season means that the semis will be played this weekend, on the October Long Weekend.
The Lions have secured a home game and host the Northern Beaches Blues at E.J Biffin Playing Fields - a match that should be a grand spectacle as the Lions continue their fight for glory.
If you find yourself wondering what to do this coming Saturday, wonder no more. Bring the kids and come cheer the Lions on! There is a bar and canteen at the ground and EFTpos is available.
Game starts at 1:20pm at E.J Biffin Playing Fields, Nambucca Heads.

Semi Final Preview by AFL North Coast
If you're looking for an indicator of the possible outcome of the Semi-Final, look no further than the last round of home and away action. In that round the Lions hosted Northern Beaches at EJ Biffin Oval and came away with a 33 point win after leading at every break. On that basis, and off the back of an undefeated season, the Lions will go into this match as firm favourites to progress to the season decider in their first year back in the competition.
The home Semi Final comes less than a week after the Nambucca Valley Under 13 team claimed the Lion's third Junior premiership in just four years since the club reformed. A further indicator of the rapid rise of the club is the formation of an Under 15 team this season, while the club has plans to add teams in Seniors (First grade), Women's, Under 17, and Youth Girls from next year.
"Since starting out with an Auskick Centre in late 2016 the club has grown year on year due to the hard work of a passionate group of volunteers," Community Development Officer Paul Taylor said.
"People are being drawn to the positive environment that the Lions have created and that's resulted in the growth of the number of players and teams. There are plans in place to grow to Seniors and Under 17, and to field female teams, and the AFL will provide every support to help the club achieve these goals."
