Whatever the reason, as resident Peter Thomas points out, finding your way to the town's famously popular Shell(e)y Beach is anything but a 'shore' thing and must have tourists scratching their heads and/or having a bit of a giggle.
"I'm all in favour of variety, but the range of sign spellings on the road to Shell(e)y Beach in Nambucca Heads are hilarious," Peter said.
"On one street corner, two different but adjacent signs spell it two different ways! GPS confusion anyone?"
And to clarify that, Google Maps has gone for 'Shelly' Beach - we wonder why?
