Cr Smyth, who officially resigned in early July for family reasons, said she appreciated the gesture ... and apologised to those constituents who might be disappointed by her decision.
"I have always tried to be well-prepared and fully engaged in my role as a councillor, but I realised I could not continue when the term was extended by a year," Anne said.
"I would like to sincerely thank all of those who voted for me and my fellow-councillors.
"I would also like to particularly thank council staff - you have unfailingly supported and helped me and I think we are very lucky to have such excellent staff."
The mayor Cr Rhonda Hoban presented Anne with a token of appreciation, a photo of the councillors taken during a lighter moment (before fires and COVID-19 changed our worlds forever).
