With a handful of Lions out of action, coach Leif Stuart had to reshuffle their lineup. Despite the unfamiliar territories, they stunned the Breakers with an epic win, 10.13 (73) - 2.1 (13).
From the first siren the Lions' middle pack was overpowering, led by the soaring Aaron "Jocksy" Clarke, who continues to win almost every centre ruck, allowing his men on the ball to dominate the possession throughout the match.
Jocksy had a 'best on ground' performance, kicking two goals and racking up an impressive amount of touches and disposals.
Captain Aaron "Boaty" Boatfield, with his usual commanding presence, was joined in the middle for the first time by Jacob Newbury and Justin "Juzzy" McGregor, both playing outstandingly.
Club legends Dylan Creaser, Pete Bellden and president Trent Baade all had a fantastic first run for the season, providing some much needed wisdom and muscle against the spritely Coffs squad.
Big targets Leif Stuart and Micky Townsend domineered in the forward 50, with Leif kicking a season- best five goals and Mick bagging one.
Newcomer Beau Langford also had an exceptional game with a sneaky goal to show for it.
The Lions back pack looked impenetrable again this week, with a stellar performance from fullback Joe "the General" McKay.
Vice Captain Joe Drage dropped back this week, bringing his leadership, skills and composure to an inexperienced back line. Joey also kicked a great goal in the last quarter.
The Lions are on a winning streak, they are hungry for more and they have their first home game of the season this Saturday against the Grafton Tigers.
So come on, Nambucca Valley! Get down to EJ Biffin sports ground and watch the Pride continue their hunt for glory! Kick off is at 1:20pm.
