The first half saw a solid wall of defence from the ten Bowra girls against an eager opposition.
Charlize Jones scored the first runaway try with some superb footwork, and Charlee Woods made the conversion from in front putting the first points on the board.
The second try was scored down the sideline by nimble winger Elicia Williams, with missed conversion.
The third try went to Jonesy again with her own conversion unsuccessful, taking the halftime score to 16-6.
Still on a high, the girls went back out with great gusto. The last try went to Charlize Jones - a hat trick for the day - with the final score reading 20-12.
The girls worked hard as a team and made some great plays and tags.
Thanks to all who travelled to support them.
Under 16 Nambucca Valley Tigers defeat Port Sharks
by Karl 'Pearly' Spear
Nambucca Valley Tigers had their second home game in a row on Saturday, taking on the Port Macquarie Sharks.
The boys were looking to bounce back after a poor showing the previous week.
They started strongly, ripping in with some solid defence and big hitting, but a few of the same issues were there again; too many mistakes and too many dumb undisciplined penalties which kept the opposition interested and hungry.
When the boys knuckled down and played the footy they are capable of, they put on a few nice tries and looked a class above the opposition. But this style of Footy was only played in patches.
In what was not a comprehensive display, Hudson Garzoli, Malcolm Noble, Jonah Edwards, Will Batten, Wyatt Rouse and Nick Gough all put in strong showings.
This team is more than capable of giving this strong under 16s comp a shake and being the first ever North Coast premiership winner, but to do that they will have to keep on working hard and show some improvement in controlling games of footy, and playing to a high standard for a whole game not just in patches.
The Players' Player went to Nick Gough who also picked up the 'Play of the Day' with a great cover tackle that certainly changed the outcome of the game.
The 'Run of the Game' went to Hudson Garzoli with a real effort breaking through from dummy half and getting into the back field before being dragged down just metres from the line.
Nambucca Valley Tigers 28 to Port Sharks 22
The team makes the long trip to Forster next week before returning home to take on the Wauchope Blues.
Under 11s romp home in local derby
by Dewayne Laverty
The Under 11s took on a well-drilled Nambucca outfit on Saturday.
An early mistake from the kick off gave Nambucca the ball and they took advantage with a great try.
It was a wake up call the boys needed. Some great ball movement led to a great try from 'hard-running Harry'.
A wide run from Ash ended in a second, and fancy footwork from Bailey sealed a third.
Manasa's reward for chasing down a kick with a great pick up was another try. And some sneaky work up the middle from Connor gave the 11s their fifth try of the game.
With only one conversion from Kirby, the final score read Bowra 22 to Nambucca 12.
It was a hard-fought win for the boys in honour of their little mate, Aston, who is in hospital.
Get well, mate! We need you back.
