Committed volunteers were up for the task - many putting their lives and work on-hold, in an unprecedented campaign that dragged for weeks.

Now one of those community brigades - Argents Hill - needs your help.

A number of the older members have retired, so the brigade must find some fresh blood to become operational.

Ian Collins, a former Argents Hill captain, is holding the fort in an interim capacity, while Dan Franks is looking to rebuild the brigade.

Dan is a member of the Newee Creek brigade - and also a member of Argents Hill as he has a property in the area where he runs cattle.

"We are looking for anyone in the Bowraville and North Arm area who can come onboard - whether it be in an operational or support role," Dan told the Guardian.

Argents Hill has a dual cab Category 7 truck, but is currently down to about three operational firefighters.

The Rural Fire Service provides full training - with a suite of courses that will grow you as an individual, with everything from firefighting, first aid, and navigation through to communications on offer.

Putting your hand up to help Argents Hill in whatever capacity will be welcomed - and the rewards of membership are countless.

Dan said the first step in rebuilding the brigade will be gaining sufficient members so that a meeting can be held - and a structure put in place to get the unit back on the road.
