Club Championships were in full swing during the week, with players of all abilities trying their hardest to play well in their respective grades - congratulations to all who competed.

A difficult game at the best of times, stroke events seem to make it even harder for some of us Not so for Stephen Carr, the Men's Champion for 2020.
Tuesday was a Medley Single Stableford event, with lots of visitors joining us for the day.
Mark Hargraves (6) from Cronulla romped home with 42 points, including an Eagle on the 12th hole, to win Division 1 (scratch to 20) from Maxine Townsend (19) with 38 points, who is back home from house sitting.
John Buganey (28) and Peter Dawe (26) both scored 37 points in Division 2 (21 to 45), John winning on count back.
Other good scores came from Russell Williams (Bellingen) and Paul McElhinney 36, Gregory McCoy, Jan Harris and Ross Morpuss 35.
Balls went down to 31 points on countback to Nicholas Jenkins from Bellingen.
Wednesday was the second round of the Ladies Championships, sponsored by Mid Coast Trucks and Community Transport, after inclement weather forced the cancellation of Monday's golf.
Darcy Habgood continued her good form having 72, maintaining her lead with a total 143 after 36 holes.
The lead changed in B Grade with Judy Boyle's total after two rounds of 197 putting her 4 shots ahead of Gillian Anderson.
The softer conditions on the course resulted in lower average scores for C Grade but sees Morann Paterson maintaining her lead on 75 Stableford points.
The final round is being played today.
The daily competition run in conjunction with the Championships had 47 players.
A Grade was won by Glenys Thompson 71 nett with Darcy Habgood runner up 72. Sue Seymour won B Grade on a count back from Robyn Jones with 70 nett. Morann Paterson won C Grade with 34 Stableford points on a count back from Kerry Shearer. The ball competition required 74 nett or lower and 30 points or higher.
Thursday was the Open "Dolphin Day" sponsored by Nambucca Heads RSL Club.
Adrian Lees (4) from Bonville had the best score of the day with 38 points to win Division 1 (scratch to 17) from Phillip Mander (16) with 36 points and Gregory Smith (12) with 35 points.
David Mattacott (19) scored 36 points to win Division 2 (18 to 24) from Bryan Ussher (21) with 35 points.
In Division 3 (25 to 45), Wayne Purcell (25) scored 37 points to win from Leanne Welsh (28) with 35 points - Wayne was awarded the "Dolphin Day" shirt.
Other good scores from Lyn Grose, Heather Gray and Lee Fewings with 34 points. In the ball comp, you needed 31 points on countback, Stuart Garvey the last to collect.
Saturday was the Men's Monthly Medal sponsored by Nambucca Local Liquor and the third round of the Men's Championships. The A grade (scratch to 12) Medal was won by Ashley Price (5) with net 68, runner up was Gregory Smith (12) with net 69. Darcy Habgood had the best off the stick for the day and won the scratch with 70.
The B Grade (13 to 19) Medal was won by Dennis Ashton (19) with net 66, runner up was Chris Thorndike (16) on net 69. Scratch was won by Phillip Mander with 88.
In C Grade (20 to 45), Denise Paluch (20) scored a net 70 to win from Trevor Peck (24) who gets the Medal with net 69. Peter Fredericks won scratch with 92.
Other good scores from Edward Penrose 69, Darcy Habgood and Dianne O'Leary 70, and Bruce Berry 71. The ball comp went down to 75 on countback, Garnet O'Brien getting the last one.
Sunday's event was the final round of the Men's Championships sponsored by HLV Partners. Joe Street (18) scored net 65 to win from Phillip Mander (16) with net 67. Stephen Carr had the best off the stick with 77.
And there were other good scores from Andrew McKinnon 71, Greg Smith and Stephen Carr on 72. Balls went down to 75 on count back, with Geoff Harris the last to collect.
The Club Champion for 2020 is Stephen Carr. Steve had a gross total score of 300 over the four rounds and was followed by Bruce Berry (309) in second. The A Grade Nett was won by Gregory Smith with 286 from Colin Wormleaton with 301.
The B Grade Champion is Phillip Mander with 344 from Rodney Robertson on 357. The Nett in B Grade was taken out by Joe Street on 281 from Robert Coneybeare with 298.
The C Grade Champion is Dennis Ashton with a total score of 357 from Andrew Mackinnon on 391. Urpo Ylinen won the C Grade Nett with 289 from Trevor Peck 295.
Congratulations to these finalists and to all the players who completed all four rounds.
There is plenty of golf on the Island this week with Medley Single Stableford competitions on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. on Wednesday.
The ladies have a 4BBB Stableford on Wednesday.
Friday will see another round of the Haval Challenge Series sponsored by Kempsey Haval - challenge yourself against the best the Island Course can throw at you, with a chance to win the "Drive to Royal Pines" prize.
There is a 9-hole chook run on Friday afternoons. Social play is available after competitions, and on other days from 8am until 4pm.
