Fire crews responded to the call for help just before 11am.
When the first responder Eungai RFS Brigade arrived at the house on Station St, they discovered it was already fully consumed by fire.
The flames were threatening to spread to the neighbouring house and so the Eungai brigade went to work protecting that house, alongside colleagues from the Stuarts Point/Yarrahappinni, and Warrell Creek RFS brigades.
Through their diligent efforts, that house only sustained minor damage due to heat.
RFS crews worked alongside four Fire and Rescue units from Macksville, Nambucca Heads and Bowraville to extinguish the fire.
A Hazmat crew from Port Macquarie also attended out of concern the house contained asbestos.
Police and two bulk water carriers were also there to give assistance.
Fire crews detached the down pipes to water tanks after extinguishing the fire to protect the water from possible asbestos contamination.
There is a suggestion the fire was electrical in nature.
