"Installed on both the northbound and southbound approaches to the town, these new signs have been designed to drive more visitors from the highway, and help the local economy grow," Member for Oxley Melinda Pavey said.
"Each sign has symbols to indicate what services are available, including 24-hour fuel, food, accommodation, they are also reflective so motorists can see them at night."
A key feature of the new signs is the inclusion of an image showcasing part of the town, chosen by Nambucca Valley Council and stakeholders.
"The signs at Nambucca, installed earlier this week, show off the beauty of the Nambucca Estuary," Ms Pavey said.
"Thanks to everyone involved with these projects, it's a great partnership between community consultation and government."
It's been a long road to reach this point, after the bypass was constructed, many businesses in Nambucca Heads had to adjust to less travellers passing through.
A pilot program was held between late 2017 and early 2018 to determine whether bypassed town visitation could be maintained through innovative and purpose-designed signage.
Based on the trial's success, the decision was made to roll out the initiative to other bypassed towns across NSW, with Nambucca and Kempsey the latest to benefit.
