Big Bash League returns to Coffs Harbour

Local cricket fans can rejoice at today's big news.

The fixtures for this year's Big Bash League have dropped today, and with it, the news that the Sixers will return to Coffs Harbour after the enormous success of the inaugural regional fixture last season.

The men in magenta take on the Brisbane Heat on Monday, January 4.

A capacity crowd in Coffs eagerly ate up everything that was dished out to them last January as Josh Philippe's outstanding unbeaten innings led the Sydney Sixers to a seven-wicket win over Adelaide.

The clash against the Adelaide Strikers at Coffs Ex. Stadium was a history-making venture as the venue hosted a Big Bash League fixture for the first time.

And more than a few faces from the Nambucca Valley flecked the wall of cheering fans.

But Cricket Australia Head of Big Bash Leagues' Alistair Dobson acknowledged there could be changes to the schedule if COVID takes hold in NSW again.

"By sharing these schedules at this stage, we hope that our fans, clubs, players and partners can all share in the excitement of the return of everyone's favourite cricket competitions," he said.

"While we know that the challenging, fast-changing coronavirus pandemic could ultimately mean revisions to the schedule, there is nonetheless a lot to like about the way both competitions are shaping up. It is our sincere hope that the WBBL|06 and BBL|10 will go some way towards lifting the spirits of, and restoring a sense of normality to, the nation."
