Work to ensure the safety and reliability of the old Macksville Bridge has been accelerated as part of the NSW Government's economic stimulus package.

Member for Oxley Melinda Pavey said stimulus funding from the $2.3 billion COVID-19 package has allowed Transport for NSW to bring forward and deliver projects in addition to its planned program of work.
"As a result $230,000 has been allocated to carry out detailed inspections and maintenance work on the Macksville Bridge," Ms Pavey said
"The bridge has provided an essential service to motorists, cyclists and pedestrians for many years. Despite the opening of the new bridge as part of the Pacific Highway upgrade, the old bridge is still used regularly by locals and visitors, so its upkeep is important."
Inspection work on the Macksville Bridge will start this week, from Wednesday and will take four weeks to complete, weather permitting.
The work will be carried out on weekdays from 7am to 6pm and from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays, with most of the work to be carried out from barges in the Nambucca River.
