Nambucca Valley Council's draft operational plan on exhibition

Economic development, roads and infrastructure and community facility improvements are at the forefront of Nambucca Valley Council's draft Operational Plan, Delivery Program and Long Term Financial Plan (LTFP), which is on public exhibition until Friday, July 24.

Mayor Rhonda Hoban, OAM encourages interested community members to provide feedback on the draft documents, which outline Council's 2020/21 to 2029/30 annual budgets and details the projects, services and programs the council plans on delivering over the coming years.

"In 2020/21, Council is proposing to deliver an Expenditure Budget totalling over $56 million, investing more than $15 million in capital works and delivering a range of projects and programs across the Nambucca Valley," Cr Hoban said.

"We will be drawing on reserves and considerable government grant funding to deliver an ambitious range of infrastructure projects, including the construction of the Valla Urban Growth Area, heating and improvements to the Macksville Pool, extension of the Nambucca Heads Library, the Hyland Park footbridge and beach access, Nambucca Heads V-Wall precinct improvements and a new water filtration plant, as well as our planned bridges, drainage, sealed and unsealed road programs.

"Council will also be delivering some improvements to community facilities and public spaces around the Valley, including playground equipment at various sites, drainage at Scotts Head Tennis courts, sealing and landscaping at Valla Beach netball courts, beach walkway upgrades, cemetery improvements, Bowraville Tennis Court refurbishment and new public amenities in Nambucca Heads".

Cr Hoban said the combined Operational Plan, Delivery Program and LTFP aims to support economic development, as the region adjusts to the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

"Just like any other business, the council has been significantly impacted by COVID-19, and as with the State and Federal Governments, we are working hard to support local industry and jobs, and get our economy moving again," she said.

"I encourage all interested residents to review these documents and comment on our proposed program of works before the close of the exhibition period."
