Nick Baker, the chief executive of the CamperMate travel mobile app, listed Nambucca Heads as his number five spot for tourists to visit.
"We love this old-style holiday town on the Mid North Coast. It's a good stop on the coastal drive up or down and feels like you've found a terrific little piece of the past," he said in the article published on the website Traveller.
Before COVID-19, Nambucca Valley Council started plans to add another attraction to the area, but the Canoeing and Kayaking trails project was put on hold not long after the virus outbreak.
"We were Close to finishing before Covid-19 shutdown, but like a lot of things, the plans had to be put on hold," Community Development Manager Coral Hutchinson told the Guardian.
"At this stage, we expect the project to be completed sometime in the next few months."
The Canoeing and Kayaking trails project will map out the best path through the local waterways, and upgrade the facilities on the route.
"We are trying to make the water more easily accessible, and have picnic areas and signage, showing visitors and locals the best places to launch their canoe," Coral said.
All NSW travel restrictions were lifted on June 1, allowing holidays anywhere in the state. All transport methods, including flights, are permitted, and camping grounds, along with the majority of national parks can reopen.
Restaurants, pubs, cafes and clubs are expected to have restrictions on patron numbers very soon, just in time for the start of school holidays on Saturday, July 4.
