THE ISLAND Golf Course at Nambucca Heads has not been in better condition for a long time, thanks to Luke, 'Juicy' and Bruce - our hard-working green staff - and Peter Miller volunteering on the new rough mower.

The club's new Tuesday Medley Single Stableford has proved popular already, with over 60 players playing in two divisions last week. Division 1 (scratch to 21 handicap) was won by Paul Ryan (10 handicap) with 35 points from Colin Hoskins (20, Bellingen) on 34 points.
In Division 2, Alvin Rapley (30) had the best score of the day to win with 42 points from Paddy Byrne (27) with 39 points - well done to both, it's been some time since they picked up a trophy voucher.
Other good scores were carded by Jan Harris and Rodney Ford with 35 points, and John Patterson, Keith Elphick, Kevin Mulhall and William Mann, all with 34 points. Balls went down to 32 points on countback.
Thursday and Saturday's Medley Single Stableford was sponsored by Drew Walker Plumbing, with good fields attending on both days in perfect autumn weather.
On Thursday, Steve Frost (14) had the best score of the day with 42 points to win Division 1 (scratch to 20) from Stuart Garvey (14) on 41 points. In Division 2, Peter Dawe (25) had 41 points to win from Paddy Byrne (26) with 37 points - two good days in a row, Paddy.
Other good scores were carded by Danial Fleming 39, Paul Ryan 37, and Geoffrey McCann, Simon Correy, John Buganey and Dennis Holland all with 36 points. Balls went down to 32 points on a countback.
An unforgettable shot from Bill Mann on the 18th for an ace was the highlight of the day - we are wondering if this is the first hole-in-one recorded under the new 'Corona Rules'. It certainly is at Nambucca - congratulations, Bill.
On Saturday, we had 90 starters, so we played in three divisions which evenly distributes the number of players in each division for more equitable trophy distribution - Division 1 was 0-17, Division 2 was 18 to 22, and Division 3 was 23 to 45. This format will be applied in future.
Division 1 was won by Gregory McCoy (2) with 38 points - great golf, Greg - from Phillip Mander (14) with 37 points. In Division 2, captain Andy Bagust (21) had the best score of the day with 41 points to win from Trent Baade (19) close behind on 40 points. Geoffrey Poole (28) won Division 3 with 35 points from Walter Bortoletto (25) with 34 points.
Other good scores were carded by David Wilson 39, Paul McElhinney, Christian Knight, Drew Glasson and Steve Doherty all with 36, Glen Crow, Bryan Ussher, Stephen Carr, Hans Jansen, Peter Bush and Steve Frost all with 35. Balls went down to 33 on countback.
