Macksville Music Muster shares some happy memories

During the second week in March, our beautiful valley once again welcomed a convoy of country music-loving caravans and country music-loving and listening locals to the 2020 Macksville Music Muster.

Heading into this year's event, there were some initial concerns about how it might go were proven well and truly unfounded as the Muster saw an increase of close to 50 percent in vans and over 400 people through the Macskville Showground gates over the week-long event.

Moving the main stage into the pavilion proved an excellent decision as the heavens opened up throughout the week, making the pavilion definitely the place to be.

And it was all over just as the first news about the seriousness of the coronavirus was breaking ... and as organiser Vanessa Sanger has since pointed out: "At the time, we did not know that this was going to be the last concert and indeed social event for the immediate future".

The program kicked off on Tuesday with an Old Time Dance night with Barry Noble, walk-ups on Wednesday and Thursday with a fantastic night at the Macksville Country Club on Wednesday and another at the Macksville Ex-servicemen Club on Thursday with artists offering a glimpse of what was in store.

Friday saw the main stage come alive with Saturday offering the perfect climax to a great week ... including a tribute to our local firefighters, pony hop calcutta, family fund day and bush dance.

Sunday brought everyone back to earth slowly with our country gospel morning.

Organiser Vanessa Sanger would like to thank all of the valued sponsors, stall holders, catering vans, volunteers, artists and the community for getting behind this.

And when it was all said and done, the event was able to donate $800 to the Nambucca Valley Councils' Bushfire Relief Appeal with a further $250 to the Lower North Coast Zone Rural Fire Service Captains' fund.

"These are the Macksville Music Musters' contribution to those that lost their homes and those that helped defend homes during the Kian Road fire", Vanessa said.

Organising is underway for the 2021 Macksville Music Muster with an assurance of another wonderful and important event as we emerge from these current hard. Tickets on sale now at the website
