Thursday was a Medley Single Stableford sponsored by Nambucca Smash Repairs - preferred lies continuing, thankfully!
The going was "heavy", reminding me of trying to ski on slush during the spring melt.
Daniel Helmers (9 - Charlestown) handled the conditions well to win Division 1 with 39 points from Paul Ryan (11) on 38 points.
Ken Marriott (14) returned to the winner's circle with the best round of the day on 40 points to win Division 2 from Phil Mander (14) way back on 33 points.
Ray Baker (20) scored 38 points to win Division 3 from Andrew Johnston (20) on 36 points.
Visitor Bruce Martens added to his collection of stubby holders with the Ecomist longest putt on 2, other NTP's went to Ken Marriott on Nambucca Newsagency's 5, Paul Ryan on 7, Rod White on Subways 8, Ray Baker claimed the Pizza on 13, Greg McCoy on 15, and the Pro Pin Jackpot on 18 was claimed by Bill Mann.
Balls went down to 30 points on countback.
Saturday's competition was a Medley Single Stableford sponsored by Nambucca Smash Repairs, played in 3 divisions, with preferred lies through the green. The conditions much improved from Thursday, with only a few fairways slightly waterlogged.
The conditions didn't bother Mark Blake (26) and David Wilson (23) who used their "C" Grade handicaps to advantage to win Division 3 with 40 points each, Mark prevailing on the countback.
Philip Mander (13) improved on Thursday's win to take out Division 2 with 38 points from Geoff Brooks (18) on 37 points.
In Division 1, Ashley Price (5) scored a creditable 36 points to win from Greg McCoy (2) on 35 points.
Peter Bush scored another stubby holder (as if he needs one!) from Ecomist with the longest putt on 2, other NTP's went to Dianne O'Leary on 5, Mark Blake on 7, Dennis Ashton on 8, Yuri Ylinen got the Pizza on 13, Richard Martin got Stu's ball on 15 and Jenny Johnston got the Pro Pin Jackpot on 18.
Balls went down to 32 points on countback.
Best wishes to Kerry McCoy who is in Sydney recovering from surgery. We understand that he is doing very well, and is on the mend - best wishes from everybody mate.
On a lighter note, you would think that Peter Miller is in heaven, the Club having taken delivery of a brand new rough mower - Pete has been test driving the machine all week, and rumour has it that it's due for it's first service already. Thanks for your efforts, Pete, much appreciated by all. I heard a rumour that the Club is asking Toro to design some pontoons so that you'll be able to float through all the remaining pools of water.
