Member for Oxley Melinda Pavey MP today announced that $95,000 from the Stronger Country Communities Fund will flow to the Valley.
The Uniting Church Nambucca secured the funding for its '120 Countdown - Nambucca Valley Learner Driver Program'.
"Transport can be a major barrier to participation in education, employment and connection in regional and rural areas," local MP Melinda Pavey said in announcing the support.
"Young people who do not have regular access to a car, or an adult driver willing and able to teach them, struggle to achieve the 120 practice hours they need for their provisional licence.
"120 Countdown is a free learner driving program, which supports young people in our community to obtain the 120 practice hours they need.
"The program works by linking young people with volunteer mentors. The mentors supervise the learners, providing guidance and support in good driving behaviour."
Deputy Premier John Barilaro said $100 million was being distributed across regional NSW, with over $50 million to fund infrastructure and programs designed to directly benefit regional youth.
"We are funding grassroots projects that make a real difference to each community, and we know how important it is to support our regional towns with new infrastructure and programs," Mr Barilaro said.
