The impressive 20-year-old Nambucca Heads product knocked out Jake Doherty 98 seconds into the first round of their welterweight clash.
'Dreamtime' Doherty was no mug either - as the fancied 18-year-old had gone into the bout with a 2-0 record.
But the Maitland boxer was quickly in a world of hurt against the Dynamite Kid - who put him down twice in the first round.
"Only about 40 seconds in Mitchel hit him in the solar plexus and that buckled him. He came forward but his hands were down - then a left hook dropped him for a standing eight," Mitchel's father and trainer, Ian 'Sparra' Stapleton told the Guardian.
Mitchel said he thought the bout might have been stopped then.
"His eyes were just staring straight ahead like he was looking straight through me. He was really fit, because if he wasn't he would not have got back up," Mitchel said.
But Jake wasn't vertical for long - less than a minute later it was "all over, red rover", Sparra said, after Mitchell unleashed two wicked left hooks and a big bombing right over the top.
The win moves Mitchell's record to 2-0 - both by knockout.
The Dynamite Kid is unsure what's next - though it might be a dance in his home town.
"Dad's talking about putting something on in Nambucca, hopefully soon," he said.
While the youngster had trained for a war at the Doyalson Wyee RSL on Saturday, he was nonetheless delighted with the result.
"In no way did I expect it to be that quick, but it was good to have an early night. Not many people start off with their first two fights as wins by knockout, but I'm very thankful," Mitchell said.
