They were keen to try out the new synthetic track, but no one could have predicted the amount of rain that fell at different times during the event.
The Zone Carnival which was to be held at Wauchope, at the end of last year had been called off because of the fires, so our athletes were keen to finally compete.
Only 5 athletes from Stuarts Point were able to make it to the carnival, but they all put in their best efforts.
Sonny Draper (U8) was competing at his first carnival. He came 2nd in Long Jump (silver), 3rd in 700m (bronze), 5th in 200m and 9th in 100m.
As he is only 8 he is not eligible for State until next year.
Lily Kennedy (U9) put in a great effort to come 10th in 70m, and 11th in 60m hurdles and Long Jump.
Tegan Evans (U12) competed in 6 events, coming 3rd in 80m hurdles (bronze), 6th in 100m and Long Jump, 8th in 200m and 9th in Discus.
Damian Kennedy (U14) was very excited to come 2nd in Long Jump (silver) as it means a trip to State in March. He also came 3rd in Triple Jump (bronze), 4th in 90m and 200m hurdles and 5th in Javelin.
Charlotte Kearney was super pleased with her hard training paying off when she won 3 gold medals for coming 1st in Long Jump, 90m hurdles and 1500m walk. She also medalled in Shot Put (Bronze) and came 4th in 200m and 5th in Triple Jump. She can't wait for State!
Stuarts Point athletes and parents would like to send out a big thank you to everyone who helped on the two days to make the Carnival run as smoothly as possible.
