Organisers Ray Stig and Raelene Squires were extremely happy, with the Auction alone raising just over $7K, and the gross amount for the day close on $16K.
Emotions overflowed when Ray was presented with a cheque for $1000 from the Australian National Services Association.
With just over 200 players, the competition for longest drive, Nearest The Pin (NTP) and eventual winners was on. Once-a-year hitters were at their best and provided plenty of entertainment.
Winners for the day were Trevor Johnson, Tom Robbins, Silas Robbins and Tim Clifford. Tommy Robbins was ecstatic with his first win in the 26 years he has played. Runners up were Tim Duncan, Mick McKay, Rhys Francisco and Paul McElhinney.
One of the nuns took out the ladies Nearest The Pin and Nikki Baade nabbed the other. Colin Easey and Steve Carr rounded up the men's NTPs.
Donna Easey and Melissa Marsay proved their might with the ladies' longest drives, and David Dunne took out both men's awards.
The girls who Dressed up as the Nuns, were blessed as Best Dressed Team.
Ray commented that the support the day receives from the local community is phenomenal. There are also plenty of visitors who play each year from as far away as Sydney, Newcastle and the Gold Coast. Four Sydney visitors say they look forward to it every year.
Maurie Roberts and Paul Usher constantly amused everyone with their auctioneer skills, whilst Pam and Bob Pearce added to the excitement. The Nambucca Head Lions Club also did a fantastic job and cooked up a storm.
Next years Charity day will be on January 3, marking its 27th year and Ray is very keen to reach the $425K mark for total donations sent to the Children's Cancer Council since the beginning.
