In October this story of caravan chaos on the old Macksville Bridge was the one you all loved.
A caravanner unwittingly became another notch in the belt of the infamous bridge as he turned onto the bridge from River St to travel north ... you guessed it, he found himself squarely in the path of oncoming traffic as to his horror, he realised the turning circle of his rig clearly couldn't cope with the tight corner.
Witnesses said the driver then reversed straight back into the 'No Right Turn' sign, firmly wedging himself between it and the guard rail of the bridge.
He was going nowhere fast.
Maybe for some the 'schadenfreude' was the attraction but for most it was an uplifting tale of practical people getting out and lending a hand ... something our shire does so well!
