Keen anglers can register for the fishing competition between 4pm and 7pm on Thursday January 9 and at scoring times 9-11am and 4-6pm Friday January 10 and Saturday January 11 at North Beach Recreation & Bowling Club at Mylestom.
Fishing starts 0000 hours on Friday morning with anglers able to submit their catch up to 11am on Sunday morning.
The festival is a flagship event based at Mylestom aimed at encouraging enjoyment of the local waterways, estuaries and beaches through promotion of responsible and sustainable 'catch and release' fishing.
The focus is on children and families enjoying healthy outdoor recreational activities.
The event competition has prizes based on age and gender costing $30 per adult, $20 per child and family registrations costing $80 (2 adults & 3 children or 1 adult & 4 children)
$80 for a family registration is great value for three days fishing entertainment! Children under 15 years of age who attend registration receive a gift pack that includes a rod & reel combo, fishing tackle and other bonuses.
New rules will be in place this year with scoring being based on length only and all fish must be live to be eligible for scoring.
Prizes are allocated based on age, gender, family and fish species caught.
The great thing about this fishing competition is that you do not have to catch a fish to win a prize!
Random Rod and Reel Draws are conducted every day and you have a chance of winning by registering and being at the club during the draw.
These draws are held after registration on the Thursday, after scoring on Friday and Saturday afternoon and after the presentation on Sunday afternoon.
This year we again welcome our special guests Mick Pottage and Chris Garrett who will be at the club on Thursday from 5.30pm during registrations to share their knowledge and tips with young anglers and their parents.
This is a great opportunity to ask talented and experienced fishermen for some tips and advice, a great tool to help the young ones enjoy their fishing experience.
The organising committee acknowledges this event is not possible without the support of local businesses. We thank them and look forward to everyone joining us and enjoying a safe weekend on the water!
