As the drought continues to grip NSW, the Member for Oxley, Melinda Pavey, said the cap for the subsidy would increase to $50,000 per eligible primary producer this financial year.
"We know it's getting harder, and the Government will continue to help primary producers work through this drought," Mrs Pavey said.
"This is an immediate injection to increase the scale of the subsidy, which has been the most widely taken-up measure of the Nationals' $3.9 billion drought response.
"Since 2018, more than 14,500 applications have been approved, paying out more than $120 million."
The Emergency Drought Transport Subsidy provides drought affected farmers in NSW with subsidies for the transport of fodder, water and stock and other farm inputs, like chemical or seed.
Subsidies may be used to transport:
- Stock to and from agistment;
- Stock to sale or slaughter;
- Fodder or water to stock on drought affected properties.
