He would have been well pleased to see the good crowd trackside today at the meeting named in his honour.
This event is traditionally a time for locals to 'catch-up' - whether they reside in the Nambucca Valley or are back from elsewhere for a few days' break.

On course, there were many family groups - some in the corporates' section and others hunkered down beneath sun-shielding marquees.
The bookies were kept almost as busy as the bar staff, while a good wave of camaraderie enveloped all.
