The bush fire disaster in the Nambucca Valley is of unprecedented scale with the damage toll now:
- Destroyed 61 houses
- Destroyed two facilities (industrial/commercial buildings)
- Destroyed 134 outbuildings
- Damaged 18 houses, 7 facilities and 25 outbuildings
Hundreds of kilometres of fencing have been destroyed as well as farm equipment and many rural livelihoods.
Mayor, Rhonda Hoban said the council had received briefings from a range of State agencies as to the assistance which was available to those who have suffered property damage.
"But we think it's important we hear from our fire affected residents as to how they're coping and what government should do by way of assistance," Cr Hoban said.
"I appreciate that many will find it difficult to come to a public meeting to talk about the loss they have suffered and for those people I'm happy to meet with them individually at a time and place convenient for them."
She said the council could serve the community better if it heard directly from residents and "we will respond to those concerns with all the energy and resources we can muster."
People who would like to raise particular issues at the meeting are asked to forward them to the General Manager, Michael Coulter, before the meeting so they can be added to the agenda.
