Federal Member for Cowper Pat Conaghan said residents with damaged homes or small-business owners or employees impacted by bushfire should visit the truck and access assistance.

"People around Buckra Bendinni, Taylors Arm, South Arm and Congarinni have had a harrowing time battling bushfires," he said.

"It's important for anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one, been seriously injured in the blaze or have had their home or business damaged to access assistance by visiting the Desert Rose Centrelink truck in Bowraville tomorrow."

The Desert Rose mobile service truck will be parked opposite the IGA supermarket in High Street tomorrow (Thursday 21 November) from 8.30am-4pm.

A quick way to access assistance is also to call the Australian Government Emergency Information Line on 180 22 66.

Mr Conaghan commended Nambucca Shire Council for setting up a one-stop-shop of bushfire recovery information in the Macksville Senior Citizens Hall and he urged bushfire-affected residents to visit.

The Federal Government provides disaster assistance through the Disaster Recovery Payment, Disaster Recovery Allowance and joint assistance with the New South Wales Government.

People severely affected by bushfire can access a one-off-lump sum payment of $1,000 through the Disaster Recovery Payment and $400 for each eligible child under the age of 16.

Employees and small businesses impacted by bushfire can apply for up to 13 weeks income support through the Disaster Recovery Allowance. Information can be found at www.disasterassist.gov.au.
