The theatre group was overjoyed by the response and as a result of this support has raised around $3,000 that will now benefit community spaces or worthy local causes.
But there's more to come and now 3Wyz Wimmin is calling for scripts for season two and asking local (Mid North Coast) playwrights to submit scripts before Christmas.
Writers and actors will be brought together at a workshop in January so that scripts can be judged in performance.
Guidelines are that the script must be easily staged (minimum set, minimum props, around 15 minutes in length) not stereotypical, not predictable.
The Company is seeking memorable characters who break moulds, scripts that grab the audience from opening line to final bow. They can be monologues or short plays.
In considering a script, 3WW will be asking if it will satisfy the audience, if it can be cast (experienced male actors and teenagers willing to commit are a scarce commodity, but 3WW are hoping there may be some out there who would like to join the cast), if it can be easily staged, and if it will meet the high standard that Up Close & Personal has set.
So, if you have a script that you would like to submit, give it a final polish and get in touch: carrollinerhodes@gmail.com.
