The event is the oldest professional footrace in NSW.
The Gift carnival consists of races from 70 metres to 300.
Athletes from across Eastern Australia will be competing for up to $2800 in cash awards.
There has only been one Nambucca Valley local (Darren Smith) to win The Gift in its long history.
The organising committee - which itself includes many new faces in 2019 - hopes to see some fresh local talent this year.
If you are thinking of lacing up, the Male or Female Amateur Sprint Races (sponsored by Soulitude Health/Brian Wright and Helloworld) are only open to Nambucca Shire residents. Give it a go!
Most of the races on the day will be handicap races, levelling the playing field and ensuring an exciting finish.
The carnival on a beautifully manicured grass track at Macksville will see athletes push to perform at or above their personal best on race day.
After the Gift final, it will be well worth sticking around for the Men's and Women's 70 x 4 Skins Handicap Races (sponsored by Bridgestone-Nambucca and Nambucca Taxis). The 70m x 4 are the final races of the night, and four or five runners will be invited to compete.
In this Skins event, the 70m is run four times, back to back, with approximately two minutes between races, so athletes can get back to the start. Each time the 70m is run, the slowest competitor is eliminated.
The final of four of the 70m races will see the last remaining two runners battling to the finish. This event is surely the ultimate endurance test - and is always a great watch.
