With a partner and young family to provide for, Kane was determined to get off Centrelink payments and find work. But he knew he needed support. So Kane met with CHESS Connect Recruitment Partner Samantha to discuss his options and address the challenges and anxiety he was facing as a jobseeker in Nambucca Heads.
It was discovered that Kane had passion for working with young people, having assisted in coaching football from a young age, and was motivated to pursue career options that played to his strengths.
Within three months Kane had secured employment as a teacher's aid at Nambucca High School and as a youth mentor at camp during school holidays.
Securing employment has been a big boost for Kane's confidence. He is happy, financially stable and proud in his ability to support his family and be a great role model for his children and the students he works with.
Positive now about his future prospects, Kane is considering becoming a qualified youth worker or primary school teacher.
"CHESS Connect have helped me follow my passion in working with youth. No other employment agency has been interested in what I wanted to do and then went out and approached the schools to get me my dream job," Kane Munsie said.
