BENDIGO'S rising star of the track Alessia McCaig has wrapped up a successful assault on the Oceania Track Championships in New Zealand with a two gold and two silver medal haul.

The 16-year-old finished with silver in Saturday's sprint final, after qualifying for the finals in third.

On Friday, McCaig won silver in the kierin after a video review was needed to separate the top two riders.

Riding in her first overseas and first senior events, the Bendigo and District Cycling Club rider started the championships in a blaze of glory with back-to-back gold medals in the team time trial and 500m time-trial on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.

Riding for Australia, McCaig and New South Wales rider Kalinda Robinson set a new championship record in the 500m team time trial of 35.249, defeating New Zealand in the final.
