While the league made a point of saying its help beyond this year will be reviewed, it has no problem with the Suns potentially using future picks as baits for deals.

Gold Coast was given a mid-first round priority pick in next year's draft and the opening pick of the second round in the 2021 draft, as well as the two picks this year.

Asked about potentially using those future picks as trade bait, Suns chief executive Mark Evans said: "It's certainly an option.

"(Recruiting manager) Craig Cameron would kill me if I didn't say, we're open for business.

"If someone wants those picks, come after them hard."

But Evans doubts they will trade away this year's top draft picks.

The Suns now have the first two draft selections, plus the first pick of round two.

"The AFL Commission have not imposed any restriction on what we do with those selections," Evans said.

"They could be traded, but I would imagine picks one and picks two would be hard to prise out of our hands."

Evans said the AFL help means the struggling Suns can re-set and he referred to a "second coming".

"In 2014 it looked like the club had made some good solid progress, and over the last four or five years we've had difficulty retaining players because of the lack of success," he said.

"This is a second chance for us to come at that with good young players, some mature players and some good programs wrapped around that.

"I'm really confident we'll make every post a winner."
