Bowravillle, Macksville and Nambucca Heads Fire and Rescue crews attended alongside Newee Creek RFS, two trucks from Valla Beach RFS, and a Hazmat unit.
When Bowraville Fire and Rescue arrived on scene, the house was already well alight and one resident was outside trying to quell the flames with a garden hose.
The Bowra brigade was able to extinguish the flames from inside the house fairly quickly, while the Macksville crew did checks to see no residents were still inside.
Inspector Duty Commander MNC Fire and Rescue Tony Lenthall said the fire has clearly started in the bedroom and had spread to another room before fire crews arrived, but said the source of the fire was still under investigation.
1.30 pm: Several fire crews are currently trying to extinguish a house fire on William Street, Bowraville.
Three Fire and Rescue trucks and three Rural Fire Service units are attending the incident which was called in just before 1pm.
Fire and Rescue media have said two checks have been made to confirm that noone remains inside the single-level house.
All residents have been accounted for.
Fire crews have reportedly contained the fire to the area in which it started and are now working internally to extinguish the flames.
