House fire in Bowraville

Update 3.30pm: Half of the house has been destroyed by fire and the other half has been smoke and water-damaged.

Bowravillle, Macksville and Nambucca Heads Fire and Rescue crews attended alongside Newee Creek RFS, two trucks from Valla Beach RFS, and a Hazmat unit.

When Bowraville Fire and Rescue arrived on scene, the house was already well alight and one resident was outside trying to quell the flames with a garden hose.

The Bowra brigade was able to extinguish the flames from inside the house fairly quickly, while the Macksville crew did checks to see no residents were still inside.

Inspector Duty Commander MNC Fire and Rescue Tony Lenthall said the fire has clearly started in the bedroom and had spread to another room before fire crews arrived, but said the source of the fire was still under investigation.
